My Life Jeff Way: No Black Tie, Jazz Club

Friend came back from Australia last month. We had a little gathering at a bar call No Black Tie. Most of us had no idea what is this place about, only know ths placeperform live band and is a place that we can drink. My friend just sms me the address - 17 Jalan Mesui, Kuala Lumpur. My god, how do I know where is it. After some survey, then only know is actually behind Istana hotel. Lucky I have GPS and it point be to the destination only I found out that is just the same street with the famous pork mi (猪肉粉）behind Istana hotel (near by Wisma Genting / Wisma Antarabangsa). The entrace was so small and there is joykey along the road. Nothing is free, it charge RM10 for the joykey.

The first empression before go into the club, the feeling is just what a little bar with a weird name. But when you step into it, is totally different feeling compare with the small street that park your car. The design is like a little Japanese restaurant houses with some great Jazz music. If you're crazy about Japanese food, this is simply the place to be. This bar really hidden away on a residential street north of Jalan Bukit Bintang. The Jazz bands and classiscal music start to play from around 9.30pm.

The day I visit this Jazz bar the music actually played by Mike Del Ferro, Christy and Lewis Pragasam. Actually I have no idea who are them. But there is a leaftlet that introduce about Mike. Then only know he is a famous Pianist, composer and arranger who was born in Amsterdam. He started playing classical piano at his age of 9. He started to paly Jazz at the age of 17 and he Jazz piano at the Hilversum Conservatory in The Netherlands. He even obtained his Masters Degree in 1990. By 1989 he had already won First Prize at the Jazz Piano competition in Rotterdam and later that same year he won the Prize for the best soloist at the Europe. The songs that the band play really relax and great. The place actually was crowded with almost European. Can't believe they able to know this back road Jazz bar. The price for the drink is acceptable. You may get the food price in No Black Tie offical site but not the drinks. You have to pay the entrace fee even you drink / dinner there.
